A Club Statement

We are extremely delighted to announce that former Trafford FC manager Danny Caldecott has joined Clitheroe on a two and a half year contract and will be taking the reins immediately.

The Clitheroe Board of Directors & Chairman David Frost have exercised & undertaken the most professional diligence in making this incredibly important decision of who should lead the club forward on a long term basis. The club received an amazing amount of applicants for the managerial vacancy, with some excellent candidates from the footballing world, which shows how far the club has come over the last few years.

The club acted out a strict process of communication with potential candidates, followed by a professional interview process to ensure that our next manager had the correct attributes to take the club forward, not just for this season, but many more seasons to come and we are delighted to announce that person is Danny Caldecott.

Danny (41) who has had an excellent playing career playing for the likes of Ashton United, Hyde F.C & Stalybridge Celtic, then Trafford FC, where he became assistant manager in the 2017/2018 season under manager Tom Baker. Baker stepped down as first team manager and Danny took over as manager in 2020 and never looked back.

Danny managed to consolidate Trafford FC to become an extremely hard team to beat in the NPL, as Clitheroe fans will know from our previous results at Shawe View & at the EcoGiants. All the more impressive with only a certain amount of resources available.

Clitheroe FC directors and Chairman David Frost were extremely impressed with Danny’s ambition, determination to succeed & professionalism as he laid out his plans to take the club forward. To add to this, it was important the club found the correct candidate that matched the values that we all share as a club and as supporters. The club are confident that Danny’s character & general nature are a perfect fit on and off the field for Clitheroe FC.

This is also vindicated by his sterling reputation within the footballing world, shown by the glowing references from other well respected professionals within the industry.

We wish Danny the very best as we begin the next chapter in the club’s history.
