Former Northern Ireland and Nottingham Forest goalkeeper Lee Camp is set to line up at Shawbridge this afternoon (Saturday) following a major transfer coup for the Blues.
Camp – whose prolific career includes almost 600 senior club appearances and international caps for Northern Ireland and England’s U21s – has signed a short-term deal with the Blues.
And the 37-year-old, a Championship title winner with Bournemouth in 2015 who has also played for Derby County, QPR, Rotherham United and Birmingham City, will make a debut against play-off rivals Warrington Rylands.
The Blues swooped for Camp after regular number-one Chris Thompson sustained a head injury in last weekend’s defeat at Widnes.
And the vastly experienced keeper, who left Swindon Town at the end of last season, will be joined in the Blues’ ranks by fellow new recruit Jack Hopkins.
The 20-year-old former Stockport County defender moves to Shawbridge following the departure of Cole Lonsdale, who has joined NPL top-flight side Ashton United.
Billy Priestley’s re-shuffled side will be looking to bounce back from a third successive away defeat to get their top-five push back on course.
The Blues have won their last six home league games and will be backed by another big crowd as they look to slow third-placed Rylands’ promotion challenge and get themselves back within touching distance of the play-off places.
Supporters are again advised to buy their tickets in advance to help streamline admission ahead of kick-off.
