Young Blues shot-stopper gives his thoughts on the season just gone and answers a few questions on his career so far.

Q. How do you feel the season went as a whole?

A. On a personal note quite a frustrating one, getting the injury when I did and not realising the extent of it was tough. However, up until that game at home to Marine, I thought we’d done okay, especially at Shawbridge. Ideally, we’d of liked a better journey in the FA Cup but we were a very new team playing our first competitive game. I think towards the back end of the season we’ve been unlucky in the sense of we couldn’t quite turn draws into wins, which could have told a different story about the season.

Q. What was your personal highlight of the season?

A. For me, it would either be the win at home to Workington which was a great night. Or the comeback at Pickering, both games really showed that we had a chance of doing well (also relieved we won as I got bullied for the first goal). The 4-4 with Runcorn isn’t far behind, crazy game and quite funny to look back on.

Q. Who was your Clitheroe player of the season?

A. Think it would have to be Conor (Gaul), scored us a lot of goals and managed to chop his way into helping us get 3 points multiple times.

Q. Do you think play-offs/promotion next season is realistic and if so what areas do you think we need to improve to achieve that?

A. I think it’s definitely our aim for next season. I think this season we’ve shown that we were a team good enough to compete with the top teams in the league if the season didn’t get cancelled who knows what might have happened. I think at times we were the victim of our own mistakes, so often we would have to score really good goals and break teams down, however, I feel we conceded poor goals more than we should of, in turn sometimes turning 3 points into 1 or even 0 at some stages.

Q. Which clubs have you played for before Clitheroe?

A. Burnley, Barnoldswick Town on loan, Charnock Richard and Chester.

Q. First memory of football?

A. I think it probably would have been playing for my first Sunday league club which was Brighouse Yellows, it was my birthday and I started the game in goal and conceded 4 straight away so I cried and went outfield instead and ended up scoring 3 myself.

Q. Proudest memory in football?

A. Playing for England u16s.

Q. Worst experience in football?

A. Probably leaving Burnley as a player, however, that started a career in coaching I’m hopefully looking to pursue so there’s always a positive somewhere in a negative.

Q. Aspirations in football?

A. My aspirations would probably just to play as high as I can for as long as I can and enjoy myself, however, my work and life can have an impact on what happens I guess.

Q. What do you do away from football? (hobbies)

A. I don’t really have any other hobbies than football in all honesty if I’m not working I’m usually playing football or doing something to do with the game. Do enjoy the gym and keeping active. And of course when I can go and see my mates back home and socialise.

Q. What is your day job?

A. I’ve recently become full time at Burnley FC as an Academy Goalkeeper Coach which I love! Been there for the past 18 months in a part-time role, however now I’ve been made a full-time member of staff.
