Clitheroe take on Widnes F.C in the Isuzu Trophy First Qualifying Round today at 3PM at the DCBL Stadium. We caught up with manager David Dempsey before todays game.
It’s been a busy week behind the scenes signing 3 players, are you looking for these signings to have an immediate impact?
"The new players will hopefully give us the depth in the squad we have needed over recent weeks. Hendo and Owen join us from Accrington on 28 days loan. This will allow time for all of our injured lads and players that have missed recent weeks time to recover and be integrated back into the group."
"AJ has come in from Radcliffe, he is a player with a great pedigree and at 18 hopefully we can help him fulfill his dream of playing full time football over the coming years by progressing him. Each player will be in the squad for the FA Trophy and you may get to see them all play some part."
We haven’t suffered a defeat on the road yet this season, can this help with tomorrows mentality despite our recent home form?
"Certainly, the lads have got a lot of expectation looming over them by everyone associated with the football club including themselves as players. With the current away form the moment we get that run of wins at home we will climb the table very quickly."
"The atmosphere at home when moments of the game don’t go our way can get a little pressured and I think that’s rubbed off on the group in recent weeks. Our home support is fantastic and I’m really looking forward to serving up a performance everyone can be proud of."
"The pressure is something we need to learn to deal with and positively channel it mentally. Our players will be right up for the game at Widnes home or away we have a massive point to prove as we were massively off it last time out."
We lost to Widnes in the league recently at the EcoGiants Stadium, can this help fire the players up to get revenge at their place?
"When you lose to a team you always want to get revenge no matter who they are. Widnes caught us on our worst day for many games so I’m positive we will be a lot stronger outfit this time around. We want to win every game as Saturday is no different"
